The primary advantage of the PS12018-A lies in its highly integrated functions. It incorporates the latest 3rd generation IGBT and diode technologies, forming a 3-phase IGBT inverter bridge. The module also includes a built-in circuit for dynamic braking of motor regenerative energy.

To ensure system reliability, it integrates comprehensive drive, protection, and system control functions:

  • Drive Circuit: Provides drive for P-side, N-side, and brake circuit IGBTs.

  • Short Circuit Protection (SC): Features an instantaneous protection function. When a large short circuit current flows through an internal IGBT, it immediately shuts down to prevent module damage.

  • Under-Voltage Protection (UV) and Over-Voltage Protection (OV): Offers protection for the control power supply, preventing damage from both under-voltage (UV) and over-voltage (OV) conditions.

  • System Over-Temperature Protection (OT): The module includes an internal over-temperature protection function, with a typical trip level of 110°C.

  • Fault Output Signal (Fo): Used to issue various fault warnings. For example, F01 indicates a short circuit in the lower-leg IGBT or spurious arm shoot-through, F02 indicates an N-side control supply abnormality, and F03 indicates system over-temperature.

  • Current-Limit Warning Signal (CL): Issues a warning signal when the inverter current exceeds a set limit. This function is recommended for overload control rather than short circuit protection.

  • Input Interface: The PS12018-A's input interface is 5V CMOS/TTL compatible, featuring Schmitt trigger inputs and arm-shoot-through interlock protection.

Output Current Capability

Signal and Protection Mechanisms

The PS12018-A provides analog signal feedback, capable of reproducing the actual inverter output phase current. CL is used for warning and overload control, while SC is for instantaneous protection of the module against high short circuit currents. In the event of a short circuit, the PWM signals to the ASIPM should, in principle, be shut down.

This module features a flat-base and insulated package design. Its module case operating temperature (Tc) ranges from -20°C to +100°C. The PS12018-A has an isolation voltage of 2500 Vrms, applicable between all terminals and the base plate for 1 minute at 60 Hz sinusoidal AC. The recommended mounting screws are M4.0, with a tightening torque range of 0.98 to 1.47 N-m.

Furthermore, the module's junction temperature (Tj) ranges from -20°C to +125°C. However, to ensure safe operation, the power elements (IGBT/diode) can momentarily withstand junction temperatures as high as 150°C.
